Welcome to Weymouth Badminton Academy

This Academy idea came from Redlands Sports Hub who approached both Helen Troke MBE who has over 100 Caps for England, was World number 1 and number 1 in England for over 10 years and achieved Gold Medals twice in succession at the Commonwealth Games and also played in the Olympic Games in Barcelona. Catherine won many European titles and many in this country, reached a World Ranking of 35 and a National Ranking of 7.

There was definitely a gap in the market in Weymouth for the sisters to put their mark on running an Academy. After a successful Talent ID day where over 100 children attended, Tracey Hallam former Commonwealth Champion and Olympiad joined Helen and Catherine to select 60 children to take part in the sessions, specially created for them.

Both of them know what it takes to be a Champion at all levels and also understand that each person should be treated as an individual as everyone has a special talent that can be developed. These sessions are not just about elitism they are about everyone enjoying a wonderful sport.
